PRN Spanish-Speaking Instructor
Summary:
The Children’s Center Utah has an opening for a part-time, Spanish-speaking Early Childhood Instructor who will provide training to Spanish-speaking early childhood educators. You will provide in-person training in the greater Salt Lake area and virtual training to providers throughout the state. Candidates must be fully bilingual and will be responsible for teaching the Positive Behavior Support course and once translated, the Trauma Informed Care courses in Spanish. The Early Childhood Instructor will be an integrated part of the Early Childhood Coaching and Consultation department.
Responsibilities:
Teach the 8-hour Positive Behavior Support course 2-4 times a year.
Once translated, teach the 30-hour Trauma Informed Care courses 1 time a year.
Classes are taught after normal working hours. You must be willing to work in the evenings and/or on Saturdays but do have flexibility to decide what days and times.
Work with the professional development coordinator to determine class schedules, prepare for classes, and keep accurate course records.
Help with translating the Trauma-Informed Care materials into Spanish.
Participate in minimal department and agency meetings and professional development activities as assigned.
Be familiar with the Early Childhood Coaching and Consultation teams and how our collective work supports early childhood educators.
Follow procedures and adhere to the Instructor Competencies set forward by the Office of Child Care.
Complete the 30-hour Trauma-Informed Care cohort and any train-the-trainer instruction prior to teaching the course.
Must have a reliable laptop and be proficient with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint.
Must have a quiet space, free from distraction, with good internet connection to teach virtual courses.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be bi-lingual in both English and Spanish.
Current valid Child Development Associate (CDA) or current valid Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) and six or more years of paid professional experience working directly with children.
Six months’ experience of direct responsibility for professional development of adults or demonstrated knowledge of adult learning and training.
Familiar with the Pyramid Model
Knowledge of community resources for young children, their families, and caregivers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child or human development, psychology, or a closely related field with at least 15 semester credits in an early childhood field and two or more years of paid professional experience working directly with children in a group care setting.
Six months’ experience of direct responsibility for professional development of adults or a demonstrated knowledge of adult learning and training.
Working knowledge of the Pyramid Model and of trauma informed care practices in early childhood settings.
Knowledge of community resources for young children, their families, and caregivers, especially those in the Hispanic community.
Compensation:
$20/hour
Schedule:
Occasional evenings and weekends as needed to meet training needs.
