Arts and Culture Customer Service Event Planning and Management
Red Butte Garden is currently accepting applications for our Concert Production Team! The Red Butte Garden Concert Series Production Assistant, in communication with the Production Supervisor will welcome tours upon arrival to the venue, facilitate ground transportation, and fulfill backstage hospitality needs.

  • Assist with welcoming artist touring teams to the venue
  • Provide exceptional back of house support
  • Facilitate transportation needs for the touring party
  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure a clean and organized backstage area
  • Coordinate purchase and pick-up of rider needs, bus stock, and additional hospitality from local supermarkets or vendors
  • Connect and collaborate with your coworkers, working together to provide exceptional service to our guests

Red Butte Garden is accessible via several bus routes that stop in Research Park and at the University Medical Center, as well as the Trax Red line, followed by a short walk or on-demand university campus shuttle. The campus shuttle offers a direct line to Red Butte Garden via the Sunnyside Route.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform opening, running, and closing side duties, i.e., shopping, cleaning, backstage inventory, etc.
  • Welcome tours upon arrival
  • Support transportation needs for the touring party; trips to hotel, Driver or Airport pickups, Errands, etc.
  • Manage applicable backstage budget; Tour Manager/Artist needs; Confirms receipts are managed accordingly
  • Ensure a clean and organized backstage area prepared for tour arrival; cleaning after departure, i.e., remove trash, sweep floors, collect, or replace linens, etc.
  • Responsible for checking dressing rooms periodically throughout the day to tidy up
  • Provide stage towels to Tour Manager and ensure showers are setup
  • Manage Laundry – wash, dry, and fold venue supplied hand and bath towels
  • Coordinate purchase and pick-up of rider needs, bus stock, and additional hospitality from local supermarkets or vendors
  • Coordinate post-show food, as required by tour

Qualifications:

Associate degree in a related field, or equivalency; one year previous experience; and demonstrated analytical, oral and written communication skills required.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.


Department-Specific Qualifications:

  • 21 or older with a valid Driver’s License and an exceptional driving record
  • The ability to drive a mini-van and transport passengers, supplies, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. using proper lifting techniques
  • Position requires physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs, lifting, and carrying equipment
  • Must be able to commit to the majority of concerts

Preferences:

  • Knowledge of the region to properly identify local restaurants, stores, area attractions, etc.
  • Essential to maintain composure around high-profile artists/guests and work in an often-hectic and loud environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated experience finding creative solutions
  • 1 year+ of backstage/production/hospitality experience preferred
  • 2-3 years+ of work experience in a comparable role
  • Seasonal position: May 1st to October 1st


Work Schedule Summary:

Variable – morning, evening, and weekend shifts are required.
