Fundraising and Development Outreach and Community Engagement

The PSSLF Advancement Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership to create and execute a comprehensive development and communication strategy aligned with the Promise's mission and goals. Fundraising by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major donors, corporate partners, and grant opportunities. Overseeing the planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns.

As a member of the leadership team, the PSSLF Advancement Manager will be an inclusive, inspirational leader who fosters a culture of excellence, collaboration, and community while implementing an innovative and dynamic fundraising strategy to meet annual and long-term sustainable goals. The PSSLF Advancement Manager reports to the PSSL Department Director and works closely with the SSL Mayor and the Board of Directors.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Development

  • Lead the development and collaborate with PSSL Administration and Foundation Board to create and execute an annual strategic development plan to support the growth of the mission and operations of Promise South Salt Lake. Work in cooperation with other departments to create effective and targeted development strategies to meet departmental objectives.
  • Build a development cultivation program that consists of major gifts, annual fund, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, cultivation of individual donors, and stewardship programs that support the current and future needs of the Promise South Salt Lake.
  • Manage and oversee the formation and maintenance of development reports and records; prepare and manage the foundation's forecasts, financial reports and budgets; monitor budget and control expenditures. Follow all SSL policies related to purchasing.
  • Supervise and manage the research and preparation of all foundation, corporate, and government grant proposals and oversee grant administration and reporting in collaboration with the PSSL Directors and grant writer. Grant writing will be required.
  • Work closely with staff, board members, and other volunteers to effectively manage donor events with measurable outcomes in the area of attracting and retaining donors. Work with the City leadership to motivate and strengthen the Board in its role in development, and take an active role in serving and supporting the PSSL Director, Deputy Directors, and Board in their fundraising efforts.

 

Data Management and Donor Acknowledgements

  • Properly document all types of donations;
  • Generate gift acknowledgement letters and ensure they are sent in a timely manner;
  • Ensure thank you letter templates are updated annually;  
  • In coordination with the SSL Mayor, PSSL Department Director, record thank you videos and prepare other special acknowledgements to donors;
  • Assist with all aspects of donor stewardship tasks such as holiday and recognition gifts;
  • Exercise best practices in maintaining clean data, ensuring data entry is accurate and comprehensive, and identify opportunities to improve processes and procedures.
  • Computer expertise includes all Microsoft Office products, donor database systems (CRM), and social marketing tools.

 

Marketing / Communications

  • Oversee the writing, design, production, and distribution of communications and marketing content for fundraising and community engagement
  • Manage consistency in mission-aligned messaging across communications/ fundraising efforts
  • Establish a strong organizational presence within the community
  • Other duties as assigned.
