Real Life Afterschool Program Intern (Youthlinc)
What You'll Do
- Facilitate weekly after-school programming alongside partner staff and Real Life volunteers.
- Mentor a consistent group of approximately 8–15 students throughout the school year.
- Lead interactive activities and discussions focused on communication, leadership, teamwork, emotional well-being, financial literacy, and other essential life skills.
- Help create a classroom environment where every student feels safe, welcomed, and valued.
- Build positive relationships with students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Participate in training, reflection, and professional development throughout the year.
Program Commitment
- Paid at $14 per hour. 5 hours per week.
- September is dedicated to onboarding, training, and preparation.
- Weekly programming runs from October through May.
- Reliable personal transportation is required.
Support You'll Receive
You will never be expected to lead alone. Every site is supported by Real Life staff, school personnel, and/or trained volunteers. Throughout the year, you'll receive coaching, mentorship, curriculum resources, and ongoing feedback to help you grow with confidence.
Qualifications
We're looking for individuals who are:
- Passionate about working with refugee, immigrant, and low-income youth.
- Compassionate and respectful of people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
- Strong communicators who are willing to learn, receive feedback, and grow as leaders.
- Able to commit to the full September–May internship.
