About Peer Court Program: Since 1993, Salt Lake Peer Court has been dedicated to providing youth with a restorative justice approach that empowers them to take responsibility for their actions while fostering a supportive community. We believe in the potential of young people to learn, grow, and positively contribute to society.
Program Mission: Working to combat the disproportionate involvement of marginalized youth in the juvenile justice system by providing all youth who commit minor offenses an alternative opportunity to be held accountable for their actions.
Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated and organized Coordinator to support the operational and programmatic functions of Salt Lake Peer Court. The Coordinator will play a crucial role in facilitating peer court sessions, case management, and fostering relationships with stakeholders, including youth participants, volunteers, parents, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordination: Assist in the planning and execution of peer court sessions, ensuring all logistics are in place and that sessions run smoothly. Provide support to the Director where needed and assist with managing two Salt Lake Peer Court interns. Help with preparation of materials for each court session held on Monday evenings.
Volunteer Management: Train and support volunteers and peer leaders by helping prepare for mentoring youth in the community, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local schools, community organizations, and justice system representatives to promote the program and its values.
Case Management: Maintain accurate records of cases, participant progress, and program outcomes to support reporting and evaluation efforts. Ensure all youth and parents are aware of their role in participating in our program and schedule the court sessions of each youth referred.
Community Outreach: Participate in outreach activities and events to promote restorative justice and engage with the community.
Supportive Role: Provide guidance and support to youth participants and adult advisors ensuring a safe and constructive environment during court sessions.
Qualifications:
Must be able to commute to (or live in) Downtown Salt Lake City and other areas for meetings with stakeholders.
Experience working with youth, particularly in a restorative justice or educational setting.
Experience with case management and data collection
Experience working with non-profit organizations.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
Passion for youth empowerment and community engagement.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and ability to work at a desk for several hours a day
Proficiency in Spanish preferred (but not required)
Experience being tactful with sensitive information and situations involving minors and parents

Schedule: part-time: Up to 20 hours/ week, Monday through Friday.
Compensation: $20 an hour (position is grant funded June 2025-May 2026 and we will know in May 2026 if it is grant funded for another year)
