Senior Director of Community Engagement
Position Overview: As part of United Way’s work in creating lasting impact and change in Utah County, the Senior Director of Community Engagement will be a leader of volunteerism in Utah County. They will oversee United Way of Utah County's volunteer-driven initiatives, including Sub for Santa, VITA, Day of Caring and Digital Inclusion, as well as United Way’s three community centers. These programs and activities are part of a larger vision that focuses on improving education, financial stability and mental health for everyone in our community. The Senior Director of Community Engagement will be strategic, motivated, and an effective leader to multiple teams and will also collaborate with various United Way teams, community partners, and volunteers to develop, improve, and evaluate efforts and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Vision for Volunteerism
Elevate the work and impact of volunteerism.
Help foster the feeling of community and connection in Utah County.
Lead and Support Community Centers
Oversee the growing network of United Way Community Centers.
Facilitate collaboration between the volunteer center and community centers.
Program Support & Collaboration
Provide support for community centers and seasonal programs, particularly during peak seasons and the transitions between programs.
Assist with volunteer coordination and training for seasonal programs.
Community Projects & Volunteer Opportunities
Identify and help implement year-round volunteer opportunities for corporate partners.
Maintain and improve efforts to train, track, and retain volunteers.
Enhance and coordinate outreach to volunteers and program participants.
Grant Oversight & Management
Work with grant writers to secure funding for key initiatives, including compiling data and information for applications and submitting reports.
Data Analysis & Program Evaluation
Oversee the collection and interpretation of data from seasonal and volunteer programs to inform program improvement and decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
4+ years of supervisory experience
Confident, strategic, self-motivated, very organized and detail-oriented
Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with persons from a wide variety of backgrounds
Proven experience in volunteerism or community involvement, preferably within a nonprofit setting
A demonstrated ability to take initiative, plan, and carry out a project
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
Reliable, personal transportation
Benefits and Compensation: United Way of Utah County is an Equal Opportunity Employer. This is a full-time exempt position, salary range $65,000-80,000 dependent on experience and education. Benefits include medical and dental insurance; paid holidays, sick leave and vacation leave; 401(K); life and disability insurance, flex spending account and health savings account.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time 40 hrs./week salary position. The typical work schedule will be 8:30am-5:00pm. However, working hours may include occasional night or weekend hours as needed.
Physical Activity: In the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time sitting, walking, listening/speaking, writing and operating a personal computer. At times, the employee may be required to drive an automobile to attend meetings within the community. They are expected to lift and carry office records and supplies up to 15 lbs. on an occasional basis.
