GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the VAC Manager and the general direction of the Executive Director, provide therapeutic counseling to victims of rape and sexual assault. Provide support and assist rape recovery staff in processing issues concerning the clients you are jointly working with.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide an assessment and short-term therapeutic counseling for rape recovery clients with needs that extend beyond        the scope of the Sexual Assault Program Case Managers.
  • Assess clients for mental health and substance abuse related issues.
  • Provide referrals to long-term counseling centers for ongoing therapy.
  • Maintain and provide timely documentation on client interactions and enter into client database.
  • Conduct a supportive therapeutic group for victims of sexual assault.
  • Provide timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to VAC Director.
  • Serve as supervisor to master’s level students who complete their internship at YCC (applicable only to qualified LCSW’s).
  • Complete the Rape Crisis Counselor training provided by the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault (UCASA).
  • Participate in quarterly center training and weekly staff meetings when possible.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures stated in the Employee Handbook and any applicable Policy and Procedure Manual.

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.

  • Interact and communicate in a professional and effective manner with all levels of employees, management, executives, vendors, victims and external partners.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Master’s degree of Social Work or related field with 1+ years’ experience working with families in crisis.
  • A current Utah Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Certified Social              Worker (CSW) license required. Those with CSW License must be willing to provide their own supervisor to supervise           their clinical hours.
  • Bilingual speaking and writing ability preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault and the effects on the family as      well as the individual.
  • Should be knowledgeable of community resources, empathy for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy including MS Office products and Google Suite.
  • Exceptional time-management, planning, and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrate high level of diplomacy, sound judgment, and discretion when dealing with victims and other department           staff.
  • High degree of energy, self-motivation, and flexibility.
  • Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Ability to think strategically and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness.

  • Work is generally performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit for long periods of time; use computer to enter data; use telephone to converse with customers and employees.
  • The employee is regularly required to: perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, and reach with arms or hands.
  • Must be able to occasionally move objects of 15 lbs.
