Spanish Foster Adoptive Consultant

Children in foster care come from many different backgrounds and cultures which make them who they are. It is important for these children to be in homes who can connect them to their culture, identity, background, and language. This position helps prepare and support foster families who can make a big difference in children’s lives.

 

Essential job expectations:

  • Implement local and statewide strategies to find qualified foster/adoptive families, including working closely with foster/adoptive parents, DCFS, local businesses, churches, and other community partners.
  • Emphasis on recruitment of Hispanic foster/adoptive families; first-hand knowledge of the local Hispanic community and Native Spanish language skill required.
  • Position will represent UFC in the Hispanic community and work with the Community Engagement Specialist, Spanish Services Consultant, and the Director of Recruitment to develop and carry out culturally relevant Spanish language public awareness campaigns.
  • Assist full time Spanish Speaking Consultant in providing support for licensed Hispanic and Spanish speaking foster/adoptive families, and cluster peer support group.

 

Job qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with non-profit or government child welfare agencies, including experience or knowledge of Utah’s foster care system preferred.
  • Native Spanish language skill required
  • Excellent Spanish writing skills
  • Requires regular evening/weekend hours, and travel
  • Some telecommuting work options are possible.
  • Must be comfortable in navigating various computer systems.
