Part Time:                40 hours per week

Salary:                      $26-28 depending on experience 

 

 Utah Foster Care (UFC), a non-profit child welfare agency, is seeking a Spanish Services Consultant based in Murray, Utah.  


Children in foster care come from many different backgrounds and cultures which make them who they are. It is important for these children to be in homes who can connect them to their culture, identity, background, and language. This position helps prepare and support the foster families who can make a big difference in the children’s lives.


Essential job expectations: 
Represent UFC in the Hispanic community by leading culturally relevant Spanish-language outreach and recruitment efforts. Work closely with UFC staff, foster/adoptive families, DCFS, businesses, churches, and community partners to implement public awareness campaigns and connect qualified Hispanic families to foster care opportunities.

Provide 24 hours of pre-licensure pre-service training in Spanish for prospective foster/adoptive families and assist them in navigating the state licensing process.

Assist in providing support for licensed Spanish speaking foster/adoptive families, and cluster peer support group.


Job qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Social Work, Sociology, Social Science or Public Administration: and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • First-hand knowledge of the local Hispanic community and Native Spanish language skill required
  • Excellent Spanish writing skills
  • Experience with a non-profit or governmental child welfare agency is preferred
  • Knowledge of DCFS foster care/adoptive policy and procedure is preferred
  • Requires evening/weekend hours, and travel
  • Some telecommuting work options are possible.
