Summer Camp Chef

Food Service

The Utah Hemophilia Foundation is seeking a passionate, organized, and skilled chef to manage the kitchen and prepare nutritious, delicious meals for 80 campers and staff during our one week summer camp, July 27-31, 2025. The chef will be responsible for creating and serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks; ensuring that all dietary needs and restrictions are met while maintaining a safe and clean cooking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Meal Planning & Preparation:

  • Plan, prepare, and cook balanced meals for campers and staff according to the camp’s schedule and dietary guidelines.
  • Create a menu that accommodates special dietary needs (e.g., allergies, vegetarian, gluten-free) and cultural preferences.

Kitchen Management:

  • Oversee kitchen staff of four volunteers, delegating tasks and ensuring efficient meal service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including daily cleaning, sanitizing, and proper food storage.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and health regulations, including proper handling, preparation, and serving of food.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and manage kitchen inventory, order supplies as needed, and track food costs to ensure the kitchen stays within budget.

Camp Events & Special Meals:

  • Prepare meals for special events, theme nights, or camp celebrations, (i.e. barbecue, etc) 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a chef, cook, or kitchen manager, preferably in a camp or institutional setting.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience in food preparation and kitchen management.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to accommodate a wide range of dietary restrictions and allergies.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Enjoyment of playing card games and board games is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform kitchen tasks in a physically demanding environment.
