ABOUT THE UTAH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COALITION:


The Utah Domestic Violence Coalition (UDVC) is a nationally recognized leader in its mission to end domestic violence through advocacy, education, collaboration, and leadership. As Utah’s statewide coalition, UDVC works with community-based organizations, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and policymakers to create a unified, survivor-centered response to domestic violence.


Our member programs provide vital services such as emergency shelter, legal assistance, advocacy, and outreach, with a focus on serving rural and diverse communities. Committed to systemic change, UDVC addresses the root causes of violence through prevention, public awareness, and policy advocacy, imagining a future where all individuals and families live free from violence and are empowered to thrive.


JOB SUMMARY:


The Domestic Violence LINKLine Advocate is responsible for answering incoming calls to the LINKLine during allotted shifts and is expected to competently provide crisis intervention, resources, referrals, and listening support to survivors in a non-judgmental and trauma informed manner. This role is also expected to enhance resource material available to callers. Due to the coverage needs of the 24/7 LINKLine, this role will require working some nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.

NOTE: This is a temporary position with a scheduled end date of July 31, 2025 with no possibility of extension. 


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Direct caller support 
  • Answer incoming calls during allotted shifts on the LINKLine in a supportive, non-judgmental manner.
  • Utilizing risk assessments with callers to support safety planning and refer callers to appropriate resources.
  • Provide 1:1 advocacy work for individuals as required.
  1. Documentation & data management 
  • Maintain accurate records of calls received, resources provided, and referrals made.
  • Assist with data entry, filing, and updating resources in the statewide resource guide.
  1. Community outreach & awareness
  • Represent UDVC at community events to provide DV information and resources.
  • Distribute UDVC and LINKLine materials to community organizations.
  • Deliver presentations to raise awareness to community organizations of the LL and its services.
  • Promote UDVC’s mission as a statewide DV resource and information clearinghouse.
  1. Training & team support 
  • Participate in ongoing staff development and training opportunities to support our team’s growth and positive morale and attend staff and volunteer meetings as required.
  • Assist with UDVC-hosted trainings as needed.
  1. Additional
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to support the LINKLine program and UDVC’s mission.


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:


  • Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, other violent crimes, and suicide.
  • Must complete (or already have completed) UDVC’s 40-hour DV Training prior to taking calls.
  • Excellent communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation skills including the ability to hear and assess clients’ need(s) and to convey accurate information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office® & Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Forms, Sheets, etc.)
  • Multilingual / Bi-Lingual speaker preferred.
  • Willingness to tavel throughout Utah.
  • Ability to work during daytime hours.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:


  • This is a Part-time temporary position paying $18.54 perhour (DOE) including these benefits:
    • 100% of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - Counseling Services.
    • A competitive time off policy which is summarized below:
      • Up to 10 days of Sick Leave per year.
      • Up to 10 days of Vacation Leave in the first year, with substantial increases after Year 1.
