Position Title: Warehouse Assistant & Driver
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Full or part-time status: Full-time

Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor
Hiring Range: $14.50-$19.00/hr. DOE

Primary Function of Position
As the Warehouse Assistant & Driver, you will support the Warehouse Supervisor in all aspects related to providing food assistance to low-income clients. This includes collaborating with the supervisor to maintain a well-stocked, organized, and clean food bank and pantry.
Major Position Responsibilities
- Maintain Clean and Safe Warehouse: Assist in keeping the warehouse tidy and hazard-free.
- Manage Food Storage and Distribution: Ensure proper storage and distribution of donated food items following policies.
- Coordinate Volunteer Activities: Assist in organizing volunteers working in the warehouse.
- Represent Agency to Community: Serve as an agency representative to stores and community organizations.
- Handle Deliveries and Donations: Assist in unloading/loading deliveries from various sources.
- Other assigned duties as needed.
Work Environment
- Work in various conditions such as in the warehouse or in the community, including indoor and outdoor settings, year-round.
- Use of necessary personal protective equipment, such as ear protection, to ensure a safe working environment when operating equipment.
Physical Demands
- This position entails working for extended periods while standing on your feet and the ability to lift up to 65 pounds is essential.
- Must be able to use a pallet jack to move heavy pallets and bins of food around warehouse.
- Operating a large box truck is required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Warehouse and Inventory Skills: Basic warehouse and inventory skills are preferred in this role.
- Computer Proficiency: Experience with computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet navigation, enabling efficient data management and communication tasks.
- Understanding of Social Challenges: Understand the challenges faced by low-income families and the importance of collaboration with other service agencies to address them effectively.
- Interpersonal Skills: Possess personal qualities of openness and respect for co-workers, volunteers, and clients, fostering positive relationships and teamwork.
- Ethical Standards: Demonstrate integrity, compassion, and empathy in all interactions, fostering trust and confidence among colleagues and clients.
- Communication Proficiency: Exhibit proficiency in verbal and written communication, enabling effective interaction with colleagues, volunteers, and clients.
- Time Management: Ability to organize and manage time efficiently, ensuring tasks and responsibilities are completed effectively and within deadlines.
- Confidentiality: Must be able to handle sensitive information with discretion, ensuring that it remains private and secure. This includes safeguarding client data, adhering to privacy laws, and protecting intellectual property
Education, Training, and Experience
- A High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred for this position.
Background Screening Requirement
- Must be able to pass a national BCI/FBI background check.
Licenses, certifications, and credentials
- Driving Requirements: A current Utah driver's license and provide proof of auto insurance meeting minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per incident. Additionally, be 21 years of age or older, maintain a clean driving record, and have the capacity to fulfill CCS vehicle safety standards.
- DOT Certification: Must be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card.
- Forklift Certification: While not mandatory, forklift certification is preferred for this position.
- Food Handler's Permit: Must be familiar with safe food handling procedures and maintain a current food handlers permit.
Position status and expected schedule
- This is a full-time position that works Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with occasional Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings as needed.
