Welcome Baby: Outreach & Expansion AmeriCorps VISTA
About AmeriCorps VISTA:
AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national service program designed to alleviate poverty by building the capacity of nonprofit organizations and public agencies across the United States. VISTA members serve in a full-time capacity for one year, focusing on sustainable solutions to increase the impact of their host organizations. As a VISTA member with United Way of Utah County, you will help enhance community outreach, support volunteer recruitment, and expand resources for low-income families in our Welcome Baby program. About Welcome Baby:
Welcome Baby is a free community service designed to promote a healthy, secure and enjoyable beginning for parents, new babies and their family members.
Welcome Baby focuses on educating parents on child development, increasing parental engagement, and connecting parents to community resources. Our focus is also to better prepare our volunteers and interns to meet the needs of the families that we serve. The VISTA will create a sustainable systems for volunteer recruitment and outreach to better serve the populations served and facilitate the recruitment of volunteers and facilitators for the Welcome Baby Playgroups and “Lending Libraries” with the main goal of empowering more low income families with the supports needed for success in school, work and life
Duties and responsibilities:
- Create and implement a structured curriculum for Welcome Baby home visits.
- Identify and secure additional funding sources to support the Welcome Baby program’s growth
- Develop marketing strategies to increase community awareness, engagement, and participation in the program.
- Data coordination, collection and analysis.
- Attend community events to market the Welcome Baby Program to potential program families, volunteers, and community partners.
- Support the Welcome Baby Coordinator with ongoing projects such as donations, community events, and partner outreach.
Member Requirements/ Information:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- U.S. Citizen at least 18 years of age
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, child development, family relations, education, public health, nonprofit management/leadership, recreation or related degrees preferred.
- Strong time management skills, the ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner
- Proficient knowledgee of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Reliable vehicle
- This assignment is full-time, 40-hour position and requires a 1 year commitment. Typically Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 5 pm, but will need to work evenings and weekends as needed for community outreach and training volunteers.

- Monthly Stipend – $2,051

- Post-Service Stipend – $1,800
- $400 per month rent assistance.

- You may be eligible for the postponement, or forbearance, of your student loans.
- Relocation/Settling-In Allowance Costs
If you are moving more than 50 miles to serve as a VISTA, you are eligible to receive a relocation and settling-in allowance to assist with your moving expenses.
- Childcare assistance, if eligible.
- Non-competitive eligibility (NCE) status with the federal government.
- Can count what hours you need of the position towards an internship
