Youth and Teen Director
Title: Youth and Teen Director
Supervisor: Chief Programming Officer
Hours: 40 hours weekly/Exempt
Job Description:
The Youth and Teen Director is responsible for the overall management and operation of a large after-school program and summer camp program for children. This includes overseeing the program's staff, curriculum, budget, and transportation. The Director will work closely with school administrators, community leaders, and parents to ensure that the program meets the needs of the children and families it serves.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the planning and ongoing year-round operations of the Youth Department at the JCC.
• Manage the program's budget and financial resources
• Coordinate transportation for the children in youth programming.
• Communicate regularly with school administrators, community leaders, and parents to ensure the program is meeting their needs.
• Ensure that all program activities comply with state and local laws and regulations.
• Collaborate with other community organizations to provide additional resources and support for the children and families in the program.
• Develop and implement strategies to recruit and retain children and families in the program.
• Maintain a safe and positive environment for children to learn and grow.
• Oversee the organization and marketing for supplemental Youth programming such as Break Camps, Lego League, Bernie Nights, and others.
• Ensure the inclusion of themes, programs or other opportunities to maintain a Jewish atmosphere in Afterschool and Camp programs.
• Oversee, plan and implement marketing/advertising for all Youth programs.
• Recruit, hire/terminate, train and supervise staff as needed for the above programs
• Oversee the facility for the above programs
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in education, child development, or a related field preferred
• Experience managing a child care program or similar experience working with children and families
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well with a diverse group of people
• Experience with transportation coordination
• Knowledge of state childcare licensing standards
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must pass a background check
