About
As an organization co-founded and co-led by foster care alumni, 1999 Collective works to ensure that those with experience in Utah’s foster care system have every opportunity and capability to thrive. We provide direct services, advocate for policy change, and elevate lived experience across the state. We support young adults in key areas like housing, employment, education, transportation, healthcare access, and basic needs. Our core programs include individualized support, group workshops, food and emergency assistance, and events that foster belonging and healing.
Utah consistently ranks in the bottom tier among states for outcomes for young adults exiting foster care. More young adults experience homelessness, incarceration, or early parenthood within two years of exiting the system than earn a vocational certificate or college diploma. However, given opportunities to stabilize when exiting care, foster youth can flourish as adults. Once supported, young adults can access the education, employment, and skills necessary for long-term financial stability and wellness.
Since launching in May 2023, 1999 Collective has served 200+ foster care alumni each year. We have improved housing stability, education access, employment outcomes and mental health for hundreds of young adults with histories of abuse and neglect. We are improving outcomes statewide, and we are thrilled to be part of the UNA community.

Note: UNA does not sell or share member contact information. If you receive emails claiming to offer our member list, it's a scam. These messages often come from companies that scrape publicly available data and falsely present it as official. While unethical, this tactic—known as email list scraping—is unfortunately common and difficult to block entirely.
