UNA is partnering with the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits to bring you Another World is Possible: Building Fictional Worlds to Inspire Real-World Change. 

Every nonprofit is built on the belief that the world can be better than it is. To mobilize durable support for your mission, people in your communities need to join you in that belief. So you need to help them imagine the world where your mission has been accomplished and your vision has been made real. In this highly interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to to use the powerful literary tools of science fiction and fantasy to communicate about your organization’s work in visionary new ways. Please bring a favorite fictional world to talk about, and a notebook or computer to write with.

Learning Objectives:

• Learn specific fictional worldbuilding techniques for reimagining real-world problems
• Identify successes and failures of worldbuilding in past Minnesota campaigns for change
• Build a prototype fictional world for your nonprofit’s mission

About the Speaker: Ash Chudgar

Ash Chudgar, Ph.D., helps people and organizations communicate more skillfully in diverse communities. As a consultant and coach, he aims to help people communicate more freely every scale—out in the world, in groups and teams, and within themselves. Ash’s work draws on his experience as a cultural historian, a teacher of fiction and poetry, and an Internal Family Systems practitioner.
