Nonprofit Credential in Human Resources

Tuesday, September 24, 2024 9:30 AM - Wednesday, September 25, 2024 3:30 PM (MDT)

Description

Are you confident that your Human Resources policies and practices are legal, equitable, and fully able to protect your mission? While mission and community are the primary focus of nonprofits, people management and compliance with federal and state law are critical and no less demanding for today's successful nonprofit.

The Nonprofit Credential in Human Resources (HR) gives you the tools—and expert advice in how to use them—to implement best practices in HR at your nonprofit. The course will demonstrate how to adapt your HR policies to comply with changing laws and will provide a framework for staying current in the evolving HR landscape.

Course Description and Learning Objectives

People are your most important asset. To attract and retain quality employees and volunteers, your nonprofit must follow effective and fair leadership practices. Human Resources is one of nine courses in the Nonprofit Credential Program designed to educate and provide you with the resources, support, and community you need to make an even greater impact at your organization.

This course provides nonprofit leaders with practical and actionable skills for developing high-performing HR policies and practices. Successful completion of the course will help you:

  • Become current on the impact of COVID-19 on employment practices, legal issues, and how the HR field is moving forward in the new normal.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of key employment and discrimination laws as well as organizational practices to ensure that you remain compliant.
  • Create, review, and revise personnel handbooks, policies, and practices in accordance with employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Gain critical insight into employee recruitment best practices, learn new methods to retain and motivate employees, and leave with a toolkit for employee evaluations that drive performance.
